Business Growth + Science-Based Positive Impact
How to Create a Viral Customer Experience
that Makes a Positive Regenerative Impact...
Impact You Can Trust
Imagine being able to seamlessly combine business growth with science-based positive impact.
Impact you can trust.
Let me ask you a few questions.
For the Impact Entrepreneurs:
What if your company could...
make engaging in climate action profitable?
make regenerative sustainability your competitive advantage?
create a viral customer experience that makes a positive regenerative Impact?
become a part of the new regenerative economy by integrating planet-positive actions into business activities in a profitable and seamless way?
For the Regenerative NGOs:
What if your Impact Projects could get access to a global network of sponsors?
Well…
In this Eco Scale Radio episode Mathias Boissonot describes how his company Handprint helps impact entrepreneurs and regenerative NGOs do all this and much more.
Mathias Boissonot is Chief Executive Officer of Handprint.tech
He is a System Engineer by training.
He has spent 7+ years working on R&D in 200+ Tech startups across Europe & Asia, as the owner and Managing Director of GAC Singapore.
Mathias is the founder of Greeen, an urban gardening IoT.
Mathias is a Star Contributor for TechInAsia and e27, and mentor for Gaia startup studio.

During your call a regeneration impact expert will discuss where you are at on your journey and offer you a set of solutions.
It can range from transforming your business to a more regenerative business model or just getting started funding nature regeneration projects with a target or it can be using Handprint’s white labeling option.
When you talk to the Handprint team member ask them:
How your company can use a white label version of Handprint to integrate Handprint technology into their products/services to create experiences around regeneration.
How your company can use Handprint to access rigorously curated NGOs tackling UN Sustainable Development Goals.
How your company can use Handprint to integrate planet-positive actions into business activities in a profitable and seamless way
During the interview Mathias mentioned that “founders in the regeneration impact entrepreneur space are super keen to partner. Even if its competing platforms, they will seek to partner because the mission comes first. Collaboration over competition.”
Handprint is in the center of small niche ecosystem. They create lots of content. They invite people to contact with them and collaborate in the regenerative tech world. To help, to share resources, to collaborate, and support a global team of people with the same mission.
Mathias is all about collaborating with other impact entrepreneurs.
If you want to network directly with him,
1) Go to Mathias’s LinkedIn profile.
2) Connect directly with Mathias.
3) Send him a message and arrange with him to have a short 15-minute meet & greet networking Zoom chat over a cup of coffee.
During your chat you can share resource tips and networking contacts. It’s all about practicing the fine art of collaboration. Who knows what kind of magic your conversation will create.
1) Handprint’s business model was inspired by Dr. Ryan Merrill paper on “Digital Sustainability” and Alipay’s Ant Forest program in China. A business model that’s a gamification combination of “Internet + Green Finance.”
2) Regenerative NGOs can use Handprint to get access to a global network of sponsors to help fund their Impact Projects.
3) A company can use a white label version of Handprint to integrate Handprint technology into their products/services to create experiences around regeneration.
4) A company can use Handprint to integrate planet-positive actions into business activities in a profitable and seamless way.
5) Handprint vs Footprint
Handprint is the sum of your positive impact. Footprint is the sum of your negative impact.
Handprint (n).:
A unit of quantifiable positive impact on people and planet; the sum of the positive environmental and social actions of a given entity. The opposite of an environmental footprint.
6) Generation R
7) Safe and just planetary boundaries (from the book Doughnut Economics: Seven Ways to Think Like a 21st-Century Economist)
8) Green Nudges
E-Commerce
Handprint worked with an e-commerce client and ran an A/B test proving that when using Handprint's Solutions, businesses can grow. In this case, they saw an increase in sales of 16%, see case study here.

For All Entrepreneurs:
Obviously Awesome : How to Nail Product Positioning so Customers Get It, Buy It, Love It by April Danford – especially if you have a product placement problem. How to make people understand a new frame of reference with your product. That they don’t understand. It’s a very actionable book.
For All Impact Entrepreneurs:
Doughnut Economics: Seven Ways to Think Like a 21st-Century Economist by Kate Raworth – this is one of the foundational bricks in the new way of thinking about corporate sustainability. And reframing the problem. It is not a carbon problem. Its an economy to nature problem. It provides a framework with planetary boundaries with safe and just limits. What is the safe limit for each planetary boundary and what is the just limit? Its not just about being within what is acceptable in terms of global warming, that is the safe part. The just part takes into consideration people. Social just is not something we should treat separately from environmental problems.
Designing Regenerative Cultures by Daniel Christian Wahl – “This is a 'Whole Earth Catalog' for the 21st century: an impressive and wide-ranging analysis of what's wrong with our societies, organizations, ideologies, worldviews and cultures - and how to put them right.” - This is a must read for any and all impact entrepreneurs. He also has a blog.
The Knowledge Project by Shane Parrish
Ryan Merrill & Simon Schillebeeckx, co-founders of Handprint, wrote a paper on Sustainable Finance in Asia. This report was commissioned by DBS, the Sustainable Digital Finance Alliance, and UN Environment.
Ryan Merrill co-wrote a paper Growing a global forest: Ant Financial, Alipay, and the Ant Forest (SMU News, SMU Case Collection, UN Climate Change)
The paper won Financial Times, "Best Paper of the Year"
Handprint co-founder Dr. Ryan Merrill was commissioned to write a paper by the United Nations on “Digital Sustainability.”
His research paper won the Financial Times “Paper of the Year.”
His work helped giant payments platform Alipay in China to launch a campaign called Ant Forest on the Alipay mobile client in August 2016.
It encourages users to lower carbon emissions by planting trees when users engage in activities that reduce carbon emissions.
They planted 350 million trees in the first 8 months of the launch of the app.
Dr. Ryan Merrill’s paper inspired the creation of Ant Forest which has planted hundreds of millions of trees.
The way regeneration is integrated into a Customer Experience app in the West is very different from how it is being done in China.
In the West…
In the Western world every integration to a customer experience first starts talking about “your carbon footprint” or “your responsibility.”
The climate debt associated with the product or service you purchased is 100% yours.
It is zero percent (0%) the chain of decisions that led to the product being produced.
It is not the government subsidizing the oil industry’s responsibility.
It is not the company making decisions responsibility.
No. It’s 100% yours. You are 100% responsible for that climate debt. It is your consumption that is the problem.
It's all about “carbon footprint” and the consumer’s negative impact.
In China…
What is different in China? The integration app Ant Forest never mentions “carbon footprint.”
It gamifies an individuals’ carbon footprints with scores and rewards. It allows users to participate in tree planting as they consume online.
If you buy sustainable products, choose paperless options, bike to work, and correctly manage your waste, you are rewarded with virtual green energy points that go towards planting and growing a real tree. Ant Forest matches virtual experience by planting a real tree or protecting a conservation area, in partnership with local NGOs.
It connects users’ behaviors to environmental protection.
It uses a point system. Every morning all the users get 100 points at 6 a.m. At 6 a.m. you can redeem them for trees or vouchers. You are rewarded. But if you do not redeem your points, your friends can come on your profile and steal or share your points.
It has created such a viral engagement.
It engages people to think “what can we do as a community together (by redeeming points for projects) to have a positive impact on the planet.”
The Ant Forest business model is a combination of “Internet + Green Finance.”
The Ant Forest business model also works on Western audiences. Handprint is using these ideas and applying them to North America and Europe.
